As you know, AI is everywhere these days. It’s in your phone, it’s in your apps, and now, it’s becoming a key part of how businesses run. We’re seeing AI being used to solve all kinds of problems—things that once took up a lot of time are now being handled in seconds. And at Bulkpe, we’re always looking for ways to make things easier for the businesses we work with.
Handling Customer Queries with a Small Team
As a growing company, one of our challenges has been customer support. We work with hundreds of businesses all over India, and each of them has different questions, requests, and technical issues. With a small team, it wasn’t easy to keep up. We could see that some of our customers weren’t getting answers as fast as they needed, and we knew that wasn’t good enough.
We tried different solutions, but nothing really hit the mark. That’s when we started thinking: What if we could use AI to help?
The idea of having an AI to solve customer support
So, we decided to give it a shot. We got to work on something we called Docs AI. The idea was simple: create a chatbot that could understand our product documentation and answer the common questions our customers had. If we could teach this chatbot to handle basic queries, it would free up our team to focus on the more complex ones.
It took some trial and error (and a lot of late nights!), but we finally got it working. Docs AI started off by answering questions about our product. But then, we thought, why stop there? We made it smart enough to handle technical questions from developers too, translating our documentation into different programming languages to make it easier for them to work with our system.
At the heart of this is AI technology from OpenAI’s Chat-GPT, but we didn’t limit ourselves to just that. We also integrated other AI models, like Google’s Gemini and Meta’s LLaMA, to make the chatbot even more versatile.
What Happened Next?
Once we rolled out Docs AI, the difference was clear. Customers and developers started getting the answers they needed much faster, and it made everything smoother for everyone involved. In fact, Docs AI became such a core part of how we operated that we barely remembered what life was like before we had it.
It was a small side project at first, but it grew into something bigger than we expected.
Making Docs AI Open Source for Everyone
Here’s where things get interesting. As a team, we’ve always believed in giving back to the community. We use open-source tools ourselves every day, and it’s part of what allows startups like ours to thrive. So, after seeing how well Docs AI worked for us, we thought, why not share it?
That’s why we made the decision to open-source Docs AI. Now, anyone can use it, modify it, and make it their own. It doesn’t matter if you’re a startup or a large business—if you deal with technical documentation or customer queries, you can benefit from it just like we did.
